What MLK Taught Me About Life

Yesterday we celebrated Martin Luther King Day.

It's amazing that we have a whole holiday to commemorate the incredible work of one man.

MLK is one of my personal heros and greatest inspirations. I look to him, especially during difficult times, to know what the right thing to do is.

"The time is always right to do what is right"

Right now there is a lot of civil unrest-- people are being discrimated against, and life isn't fair. MLK teaches forgiveness and to protest peacefully using non-violent means.

MLK always rose above, and showed by being an example.

His legacy is one of freedom, equality, justice, forgiveness, and most of all, love.

"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that"

I want to follow in MLK's footsteps and rise above. I want to forgive those who have shown me hate. I want to be proof that MLK has and keeps having a major impact on people's lives... and he continues to change the world.
